Witchspire Patch 0.1.3 — Offline Mode, Build Modes, Incense & Food Changes

TL;DR:Patch 0.1.3 adds the long-awaited Offline Mode and Build Modes, introduces a Nearby Players compass, reworks Incense mechanics, rebalances Food, and fixes over a dozen bugs. If you've been waiting to play solo without internet, this is the patch.

What Changed in Patch 0.1.3

Patch 0.1.3 (released June 25, 2026) is the first major content update since Early Access launch. It addresses the most-requested community features and several balance concerns. Here's a full breakdown.

Offline Mode

Witchspire now supports fully offline single-player. You no longer need an internet connection to play solo. Your world saves work identically whether online or offline.

How it works:

  • Launch the game normally — if no internet is detected, you'll enter Offline Mode automatically.
  • All existing saves are compatible. No migration needed.
  • Co-op still requires an online connection.

What this means:If you've been holding off on Witchspire because of the always-online requirement, that barrier is now removed.

Build Modes

Two new Build Modes give you more control over how you construct your base:

Free Build

Place structures anywhere without grid snapping. For creative base designs.

Grid Build

Snap-to-grid placement for clean, aligned layouts. Better for functional bases.

Toggle between modes from the building toolbar. Both modes work with all existing structures.

Nearby Players Compass

A new compass indicator shows the direction and distance of nearby players in co-op. Useful for coordinating exploration on larger islands.

The compass appears automatically when another player is within range.

Incense Changes

Incense mechanics have been reworked:

  • Spirit Incense now has a visible area-of-effect indicator.
  • Rich Spirit Incense duration increased.
  • Incense effects now stack differently — check the in-game tooltip for current behavior.

These changes affect how you manage spirit spawns around your base. See our Ritual Candles guide for related crafting info.

Food Balance Changes

Several food items have been rebalanced:

  • Basic food items now restore slightly less HP.
  • Higher-tier food items restore more, making cooking progression more meaningful.
  • Food cooldown timers adjusted across the board.

If you've been relying on cheap food for survival, you may need to invest in better recipes. See the Crafting page for updated recipes.

Bug Fixes

Key bug fixes in this patch:

  • Fixed Familiars not responding to commands in certain biomes.
  • Fixed a crash when loading saves from Patch 0.1.2b.
  • Fixed building placement snapping through terrain.
  • Fixed Incense effects persisting after leaving the area.
  • Fixed food buffs not applying correctly in co-op.
  • Various performance and stability improvements.

For the complete list, check the Steam News page.

What This Means for Beginners

If you're just starting Witchspire:

  1. Offline Mode means you can play anywhere, anytime — no Wi-Fi needed.
  2. Build Modes make base-building more intuitive. Start with Grid Build for cleaner layouts.
  3. Food changes mean you can't survive on basic berries forever. Prioritize crafting Health Elixirs early.
  4. Incense changes affect night-time safety. Craft Witch's Lanterns and Spirit Incense to protect your base.
