TL;DR: Patch 0.1.3 adds the long-awaited Offline Mode and Build Modes, introduces a Nearby Players compass, rebalances Incense duration and recipe requirements, and rebalances Food. Official confirmed changes are listed below; items marked (community-reported) have not been verified against official patch notes.

What Changed in Patch 0.1.3

Patch 0.1.3 (released June 25, 2026) is the first major content update since Early Access launch. It addresses the most-requested community features and several balance concerns. Here's a full breakdown.

Offline Mode

Witchspire now supports fully offline single-player. You no longer need an internet connection to play solo. Your world saves work identically whether online or offline.

How it works:

  • Launch the game normally — if no internet is detected, you'll enter Offline Mode automatically.
  • All existing saves are compatible. No migration needed.
  • Co-op still requires an online connection.

What this means:If you've been holding off on Witchspire because of the always-online requirement, that barrier is now removed.

Build Modes / Removal Mode

Patch 0.1.3 separates placing and removing building pieces. Right Click now switches into a dedicated Removal Mode, and removable objects are highlighted in red when hovered.

Nearby Players Compass

A new compass indicator shows the direction and distance of nearby players in co-op. Useful for coordinating exploration on larger islands.

The compass appears automatically when another player is within range.

Incense Changes

Incense duration and recipe requirements were rebalanced; check in-game tooltip for current behavior:

  • Spirit Incense now has a visible area-of-effect indicator. (community-reported)
  • Simple Spirit Incense duration increased from 20s to 30s. (Officially confirmed)
  • Potent Spirit Incense duration increased from 15s to 30s. (Officially confirmed)
  • Rich Spirit Incense duration increased from 10s to 20s. (Officially confirmed)
  • Shimmering Incense duration increased from 10s to 20s. (Officially confirmed)
  • Shimmering Incense now requires Brilliant Spirit Dust instead of Greater Spirit Dust. (Officially confirmed)
  • Shimmering Incense now requires a Candle. (Officially confirmed)

These changes affect how you manage spirit spawns around your base. See our Ritual Candles guide for related crafting info.

Food Balance Changes

Patch 0.1.3 mainly rebalanced food buff duration and crafting costs.

  • Many foods now last 15 minutes.
  • Several recipes cost more ingredients.
  • Enhanced Verdantbloom Petals now heal 100 instead of 80.
  • Lotus Brew heat resistance increased from 90% to 95%.

What This Means for Beginners

  1. Offline Mode means you can play anywhere, anytime — no Wi-Fi needed.
  2. Build Modes separate placing and removing building pieces. Right Click switches into Removal Mode for easy teardown.
  3. Food changes mean you can't survive on basic berries forever. Prioritize crafting Health Elixirs early.
